DATA converted to MOVEMENT

The project aims to use data and translate it into artistic and dance language, using movement qualities, symbols and narratives. In this article, I will focus on what data I work with and how data can be transformed

Space memory: I approach the history of Rohan Island, which shapes the identity of the place, not with the environmental and geographical data of the area, but with the activity and usage of the site, which serves to deeply understand the place and will serve to redefine its current purpose. Rohan Island is very specific and has a fluid character, so over the centuries it was unclear what should happen to it from an urban point of view. This volatile character determined the quality, movement and identity of the place. I translate historical data into movement sequences and extract the essence through narratives and props.

Timeline with the main historical moments (data) that I translate into movement language:

· 13th century – Špitálské field (Hospital field): it use to be a hospital area (lat.campus) behind the city walls

· 1432 Floods – Špitálské field (Hospital field) under the water

· 16.th century – area dedicated to homeless people, their dwellings were moved from the city

· Location - the highest crime, area was unsafe, period sources are mentioning murders and robbery

· 1787 – Pink Valley, Ferdinand from Schonfeld built Rosenthal summer house in Chinese style with a ballroom and theater

· 1840 – harbor, main port for Prague (metropolitan connection with Hamburg)

· 19.th century – the area was called Great Venice, royal area, balls, entertainment venues

· 1867 - Sokol public exercise

· 1941 – 43 - agora for 9,000 requisitioned bells during the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, then transported to Hamburg

· Port was replaced by railway; area was used as a warehouse for materials - brownfield
