Be Blind! / haptic pleasure

The new experiment explores movement possibilities on different surfaces in the reconstructed part of Rohan Island, but also in the brownfield. According to the research: The haptic pleasures of ground-feel: The Role of Textured Terrain in Motivating Regular Exercise, by Katrina M. Brown, moving in outdoor terrains appears to be an experience that steps out of the ordinary experience of reality and deepens our physical and psychological sensations. I chose to use the basic characteristics of terrain: balance, grip, and pressure, and explored surfaces and textures blindfolded. I wanted to exclude visual perception because it objectifies architecture - the environment, but also movement in public space, and since K. Lynch's theory refers most strongly to visual perception of space. Thus, the investigation is meant to reveal if it is possible to map other than visually.
